I do not like sushi but my husband has really been wanting me to try sushi again and from here so I went along because I love him.I like they start you off with a fresh salad with a peanut vinaigrette. I added a little soy sauce to mine and it enhanced the flavor. Next you get miso broth with tofu, I was not a fan so hubby ate both bowls. We ordered the meal tempura shrimp and vegetables and the macho sushi roll. The tempura was so delicious and I thought the sushi was pretty good for sushi, still not my favorite but hubby scarfed it down a look of ecstasy on his face. I have friends who alo love the sushi here so i definitely recommend it.The wait staff is amazing and quick and friendly and they gave me the fun green chopstick helper that worked great.
This place is the best!! Love it every time
Fantastic sushi, especially for the price. Great atmosphere, I go to this place with friends twice a month and we have a great time every time. Only issue is parking, the place is always busy and be warned that if you park across the street from Goro's you WILL be towed (I was and so was a friend). Park in the street if you have to and make the walk, this place is worth it.
Every Thursday I come here for dinner while I'm next door at Dad's, I get my meal to go, but Janet has always been the sweetest hostest. She's always friendly and happy and she knows my order already! The food here is amazing, I love the Texas roll and the Caterpillar roll, but the rest of their menu is also good. Definitely a regular place for me and I recommend it to all friends now.
Definitely a popular dinner spot in San Antonio. The restaurant inside isn't very large, so it tends to be a bit overcrowded. Service is good, sushi is good, even non sushi items are good. The Crawfish roll is a must! The Alamo roll is really spicy. And the UT rolls also a good staple.
Best sushi in SA. Fresh food always. Love the ambience and the staff is very attentive. Lets not leave the sushi chefs out, awesome hard working men that cook to order. I highly recommend this restaurant. Very satisfied customer everytime!🖒
Food, service and atmosphere have always been great during lunch and dinner. Unpretentious, generous portions, great place to bring kids, even fellow patrons have always been friendly. In short we drive 70+ miles to eat at Goro's, and organize our shopping and San Antonio trip to make sure we can dine here.
Sushi was really good, ordered two things of it. Also the teriyaki menue is SO GOOD⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The place looked aged but clean. The tuna apprizer was great. The sushi roll was good. And the "sushi & nigori comb C" was about average, but at the price point, I think it would look much better and unique if it came with "Perilla frutescens" instead of cucumber or mixed. Overall it was a good experience.
Great little "hole in the wall" sushi restaurant. Super cozy Asian atmosphere with bar, table and booth seating throughout. Customer service was exceptional. It was difficult to get to the bottom of my drink before getting a new refill. The menu was huge to include Asian plates, sushi, Korean and more. We started with edamame and miso soup. Both were great. Then we had some Happy Hour sushi pieces and shared a roll. Both of those were extremely fresh and tender.I will definitely be back to try more rolls and Asian dishes.
Nice casual atmosphere, with good food and great service. Nice assortment of rolls to choose from as well as some 'cooked' (non-sushi) items available. Reasonably priced also
I did not like Goro's Sushi. Everything lacked flavor and the food did not taste fresh. Many people I know love this place, but I thought it was disappointing. The miso soup was okay. I didn't like the seaweed salad. I had the O Roll which was also not that great. I will say the prices were reasonable. But I would rather pay more for better sushi. The service was also not that great.I felt like we were an inconvenience to the server. I won't go back. So many other better sushi places in San Antonio.
Came in to eat Friday night and the food and service was exceptional. I definitely recommend the Letty roll, a sakerita and the tempura Ice Cream. All were very delicious. Armando was the General Manager on duty, him and his staff knocked it out of the park. I now have a new sushi spot in San Antonio!
Usually i give this place 5 stars. That is not the case this time. The service was still good but the quality if food was not. I had the whatever roll and my date had the kiss of fire roll. The ingredients were bland and seemed aged. Even the wasabi was of poor quality. I will give this place another but only because historically I am very satisfied with the taste and quality of food.
The Waiter was great, prompt, friendly and attentive. However, I ordered one roll and it took over 15min to arrive. Most rolls had cream cheese, shrimp, and/or were deep friend, didn’t care for any of them, ordered the lesser of all evils, the Stephanie (without cream cheese). Place needs variety and better options for rolls, and maybe more chefs? Will not be going back.
I recently visited for the first time, it is definitely a good japenese themed restaurant, I get a good vibe of authentic Japanese food, the food is priced really well and it's delicious. I definitely recommend checking it out, the have some cool drinks and also some Korean and Chinese plates. Great service as well.
Wait staff was incredibly efficient and the food was on point. Definitely get your money's worth. Looking forward go going again.
Amazing as always. Great service and good sushi.
Returned to Goro's with my wife on a trip to celebrate the wonderful 20 years that have passed since our second date there. Armando Sanchez (manager) remembered me and I remembered him from the many times I have eaten there. He was so gracious, the food was excellent, and the service (as always) was fantastic. Best sushi in Texas! Thank you Armando!
Great food, they have a variety of rolls & great staff & management. I've been coming here for over 7yrs. Love this place!
Service is very prompt and efficient. The food portions are large and filling. Great experience.
Always good
Sushi has always been great even now through the mess were going through still tasting great.
Awesome environment and food. Sushi Chef is very detailed and skilled. You have to try their whatever roll.
First time here, very affordable great food, beautiful presentation, fast service during a busy time and friendly staff....definitely will return.
Best sushi in San Antonio. I love their ut roll and the 'O' roll. The rolls are really big too. Price is a steal for the quality.
Cozy. Good service. Food was very good.
Our go to sushi spot. Staff is great. Sushi hits the spot. When friends find out my wife and I eat here, we realize that we share the same love for it. Great local spot.
This place is not anything near traditional Japanese. Did not see a single Asian employee, not even sushi chefs. Bibimbap was sooooo off from what it should be. And the shrimp tempura batter is all wrong. Supposed to be flaky but it was like... mushy. Can't explain it. Anyways, service was great but if you're looking for traditional Japanese this is not the place.
My favorite spot in San Antonio for Sushi! Their rolls are hefty and their seafood salad is to die for! Well, pretty sure I wouldn't die for it but it's really good! I also appreciate seeing the same familiar faces of the staff for the past 5+ years. All in all it's a nice quaint spot for a date night. No frills, just good food.
Affordable, tasty sushi. I know at dinner you get a salad and a miso soup.
Probably some of the freshest sushi that I have had in San Antonio. We tried the fried dumplings as well and they where Some of the best we’ve had. The eating area is no frills but well maintained and it did not take long to get served. This would have been a five star rating but the sodas were almost flat and the fortune cookies stale. So eat the sushi, drink the sake and skip the cookies and you will have a great meal.
Amazing experience! Very impressed with service! Loved the SUSHI, ambiance, and food! Will definitely return!
Great food, generous portions, and a versatile menu offering more than just sushi. I have been a fan of this place for awhile now and will continue to be❤
This morning place has been on top of my list. The manager has always been good and has always greeted me with a smile. Never had a complaint of this place. Thank you Goros!
Best sushi I’ve ever had. The environment there is very settled and comfortable to relax and engage in interaction and conversation. Fast food service and and great customer service as well. Looking for something to appease your taste buds, can’t go wrong choosing this spot.
Great venue and excellent service
The sushi portions are very generous compared to other restaurants. My husband and I have had everything on the menu atleast once and haven't been disappointed. They made a lifelong customer of us long ago
Yummy.. not fancy from the outside but good sushi..
Awesome place great staff good food excellent lighting & experience
Goro's has a few things going for them. They've been consistent in flavors, service, standard rolls and value. They offer enough variety of rolls and nothing too outrageous. I love their simple salad with that Japanese dressing. I like the "Enchilada Roll". It has nothing to do with a Tex-Mex enchilada. Their lunch specials are great. It's a casual, relaxed spot to enjoy some sushi and sake.
Been there a long time ago. Food was still delicious as ever
Sushi never dissappoints. Lots of familiar staff. Been coming here for years. This place is on the map for a reason.
Food is good they are known for sushi. They have Chinese dishes too, sesame chicken/ lemon chicken And like plates.
This was my first visit to Goro's in quite a long time due to the "Situation". It appears that changes have been made to address, to the extent possible, the need for social distancing in the restaurant. Soy sauce was provided in packets instead of usual bottles. The staff were all "masked up" which was pleasant to see. The sushi was just as good as I remembered it being.I had the "Cowboy" and Rainbow rolls. Both were very good :)
Armando was so nice, we try to request him every time we go. The food is sooo good. This is a must on a first date or just to have lunch or dinner.
After working a long shift, we decided to treat ourselves to some sushi. I was excited and made my order to go before I left work. They did tell me it would be a 30min wait. When I arrived, it was busy. I paid my order and the host asked me to wait outside and he would take my order out. I just didn't think that 30min would turn into an hour. I went inside to ask him if the order was ready because it has been an hour and he said "No sorry." Now, this young man was not mean nor rude. And I understand it was busy, so I tried my hardest not to look too disappointed since I have a doctorate in RBF. But man.... Anyways, a few minutes later he took me my order. I think maybe, just maybe, they forgot to give me my order when it was ready. The sushi, although this was my fave sushi place did not taste the freshest. 😢 So sad.
This is a great little hidden spot! The sushi 🍣 was amazing! We went during a busy time, but the service was fast.
I was recommended to eat here, a couple of weeks ago and I finally made it. Oh boy where they right when they told there is no place better for sushi than Goro’s. When I got there the face of the restaurant was simple but when you walk in it opens up and it feels very welcoming, the staff was friendly and very attentive. Prices are very reasonable, my wife thought we spent more than what we did. It was amazing, can’t wait to go back.
Wonderful little place with a nice atmosphere and a wide variety of delicious food aside from just sushi. The only issue is parking. Parking is a nightmare. Goro's is delicious therefore it gets quite packed. The parking is very limited and everywhere else nearby has signs posted everywhere that if you're there from Goro's or the karaoke place next door, you're not allowed to park in their parking lot, no matter how dead the place is... First time there and my friend got towed for parking at a nearby at&t.
